The Rec Department is proud to team up with "cantor" Rita Shore to offer what is sure to be a fun way to better health. This group singing class is designed for those who love to sing and want to learn the fundamentals of singing for better health. A special emphasis will be put on vocal technique, deep breathing exercises, control, tine production, diction, and a stage projection. The group will develop these skills through music to enable greater lung capacity and lower heart rate. We will use a variety of music drawn from popular classics, popular standards, Broadway and stage.
This course includes classroom and pool instruction, airfills, weight belt and weights, regulator with octo and gauges, and buoyancy compensator. Participants will need to have their own personal snorkeling equipment that is adequate for diving including mask, snorkel, boots, and fins. It is recommended that you NOT purchase these items until instruction is given on equipment during the first meeting. A Water Ability Test will be given the first meetings which participants must pass in order to continue in the course. The test consists of a 200 yard swim (12 lengths of the pool) using any combination of strokes with no time limit and no rest, 10 minute float or tread, and a short underwater swim. Any participant who does not pass the test will be issued a refund. Please contact instructor, Ken McCracken, with any questions at 970-319-5747.
